The minute the bare-feet-six-foot-five red head Brett Dennen appeared on stage strumming his guitar singing “When you feel it you know”, the crowd was conquered. I had the chance to see him live in Fort Lauderdale last night at the “Culture Room”, a small intimate venue. By the time he finished his set I was ready for another round. The soft and sensitive voice coming from this rather tall dude is a fantastic vessel to communicate the tremendous amount of talent he hides. Dennen who defines himself as a “folk singer song writer with a world music twist” is not only a brilliant guitar player but his lyrics (somewhat reminding me of Neil Young at times) bring you into a colorful world where you can find hope for the hopeless… indeed.
With the release of “Hope for the hopeless”, his third studio album,a great tour ahead, some song writing for Jason Mraz and a few concerts with John Mayer, Dennen has got a bright future ahead of him.
Thanks to the talented photographer Lauren Swartzbaugh, for her great portrait of Dennen !!!
