Jean Michel Cousteau “My Father The Captain”
/Blue Ocean Film Festival
At the movie premiere of his latest film “My Father The Captain” at the Blue Ocean Film Festival, Jean-Michel got teary eyed for a moment mentioning a quote from “Falco” (Albert Falco, Calypso Captain and the right hand of Jacques Yves Cousteau) about how important friendship is on this earth.
“Falco left us at the beginning of the year…”. A short film was started to honor the life of one of the main pillar of life on the Calypso directly followed (for the first time in the U.S.) by his movie “My Father The Captain”. An in depth look at the extraordinary life of Jacques Cousteau and his crew on the Calypso, that lead the first ocean ambassador to the wise words: “We Protect What We Love!”

The film is truly compelling, as it shares some rare black and white private footage from the early days including the first venture into the blue with the Aqualung. The images of the underwater world filmed by Cousteau are truly amazing, even more amazing is his legacy explored in the interviews with the carefully chosen words from Dr. Sylvia Earle, James Cameron,Mikaei Grobachev, and many many others touched by the captain.
The documentary concludes on some great interviews from Alexandra, Philipe, Celine and Fabien Cousteau the new generation of ocean ambassadors.
