Marine protected areas (MPAS) are  at the epicenter of Mission Blue and Sylvia Earle Ocean preservation battles. She rightfully calls them “Hope Spots” as they offer a haven for overfished and undervalued ocean creatures.

As they are growing around the world today, it is hard to keep track of where they are, how big they are and what are the social, political and economic background of the country(ies) implementing these MPAs. Enters MPAtlas.org  an online map and multi media resources encylopedia that allows you to learn and explore previous or soon to become MPAs. Backed by the WAITT Foundation MPAtlas.org is a valuable tool for all of us Ocean Minds.

My two cents? how about an MPAtlas Google Ocean layer?
